ONGOING ACTING CLASSES FOR ADULTS, TEENS AND KIDS

Class Information

*Classes are ongoing. You may start at any time, but we highly suggest starting at the beginning of the month to get the full benefit of training.

ACTING FOR FILM, TELEVISION AND STAGE 

This is a “master” class for beginning, intermediate and advanced students. Through rigorous scene study and challenging  monologues, we focus on understanding our characters through having a better understanding of ourselves. We don’t teach a particular method or technique because we draw upon many great teachers and philosophies. Students learn how to access only what is needed to truthfully connect and exist as the character. Our aim is to expose our vulnerabilities, strengths as well as our weaknesses so that we can more fully live as and through the characters we bring to life. And we not only deal with nerves and understanding copy, but we also focus on the business of being an actor.

The more we can expose, the more truthful we can become. That’s what we mean by “No Fake Smiles!”

Classes are led by actor and filmmaker Elle Richardson.

CLASSES ARE $85/MONTH OR $30 PER CLASS. TO REGISTER, CHOOSE OPTION BELOW:

ADULTS – ages 18 and over. Classes held on Thursdays from 7-9pm. 

TEENS – ages 11 – 17 Classes held on Sundays from 1-2:30pm 

KIDS – ages 4 – 10 Classes held on Sundays from 3-4:30pm

What do you do when you don’t get the job?

If you’re an Actor, what do you do when you’re not working – as an Actor? Do you question if acting is what you were really meant to do? Do you pile on more audition workshops so that you can learn how to be a better “auditioner?” Or do you give up, and just try something else?

At JSA, we know that “getting the job” is great validation, but we also know that we must remember constantly what we were called to do even if we don’t get the job. To this end, we work on getting to the core of who we are so that we can unapologetically expose our vulnerabilities and weaknesses when needed OR our strength and courage if appropriate. As Actors, we must understand that the masses come to “us” to show them truth. And we know this is not an easy task. So, at JSA, we focus on more than just getting a “job,” but also on being the vessel we were meant to be, so that when we get that job (or better yet – when we create it), we’ll be ready. That’s what we mean by “No Fake Smiles.”

At JSA, we’ll constantly remind you that if you have chosen this path for the right reasons, then you can do this. We’ll help you strip away the lies to get to the core of honest, vulnerable performances. And, we do this through monologues, scene study and writing (we’ll talk more about writing and how this helps later.)

The purpose of Jump Start Acting (JSA) is to educate actors on how to confidently and strategically begin a career as an actor in the Atlanta market. We do this by providing valuable tips, tools and resources through seminars and workshops. We help empower our students by giving them a unique plan of action that is exceptionally efficient!
